Description
Thirty-three years in the making ...
When Jacksonville’s Architectural Heritage: Landmarks for the Future was first released in 1989, it sold out in three weeks. After a couple of minor revisions and six printings, there have been frequent requests to publish an updated version. It has been out of print for eight years.
The Jacksonville Historical Society and I have been persuaded to do a new edition of this book for the city’s Bicentennial year. Rather than simply reprint the earlier book, we decided to create a major new work. Although based on the original 1989 book, the new volume has been completely updated with nearly 400 new sites not included in the earlier volume. Mid-Century Modern buildings, as well as newly discovered architectural gems, culturally significant buildings, and an entire section of little-known and highly unusual sites will add an entirely new perspective.
Unlike the earlier book, this Bicentennial Edition is all in color and features over 1,000 new photographs. The result is a showcase of Jacksonville’s architecture unlike anything ever published. If you liked the old book, you will love this new one even more. This is my best book ever.
The book arrives just in time for the holiday gift seasons for that perfect person on your list.
